My name is Jabz, and I am currently based in Cape Town, South Africa. If there is one thing that I am passionate about in this world, it is education; creative, boundary-pushing, high quality education.
After graduating in Fashion Design in 2008, and working with local non-profit organisations and disadvantaged communities, I decided to commit myself to pursuing a career in education. Since then, I have worked as a private contractor, assisting a vast array of under-educated locals become more literate and proficient in the English Language. I have worked with various types of companies, including hotels, wholesalers, a timber factory and a cement manufacturer. I thoroughly enjoyed this because it allowed me the opportunity to understand and address the widespread illiteracy issue that our country is faced with. It also increased my awareness of the extreme importance of English literacy to employers and employees.
The decision to teach English online was inspired by my love for language teaching, accompanied by a curiosity and need to explore new teaching methods. The experience has been both amazing and incredibly rewarding. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that you were able to help someone, who you might never meet in person, achieve their personal or professional goals.
I absolutely love my job. Everyday at work feels like a fun-filled trip around the world; rich with discoveries, intriguing personalities, and buckets of smiles and laughter.
I have created this blog to assist students from around the world, on their journey to English fluency; I hope that you will find it helpful. Online tutors are also welcome to use any of the information and material provided in their classrooms. Please feel free to send me an email if you have any questions.
